This week, Roqayah is back and reporting from Lebanon. She and Kumars discuss Hezbollah’s latest military response to Israel’s killing of Hezbollah's Senior Commander Sayyed Fouad Ali Shokr in Beirut's southern suburbs, and her latest article for Splinter on the Israeli attack on Haret Hreik. This week, Roqayah and Kumars follow up their After Hours episode on the best and worst cop shows with a rundown of the most celebrated cop movies of all time, tracing the evolution of the genre from Orson Welles’s film noir “Touch of Evil” and the tragically influential “Dirty Harry” to “Heat” and “Paul Blart: Mall Cop,” touching on ‘80s classics like “Die Hard” and “RoboCop” along the way.

Roqayah is off this week, so Kumars is joined from the top of the show by independent journalist Bryce Covert to discuss her latest for In These Times about the impact of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization one year after the Supreme Court’s decision overturned the limited constitutional protections for abortion in the United States. Her writing has appeared in the New York Times, New York Magazine, Time Magazine, the Washington Post, Wired, the New Republic, Slate and many other outlets.

Bryce and Kumars discuss the legal and economic barriers Lationna and people in her position face when seeking abortions in the even more repressive landscape of reproductive care post-Dobbs, as well as the failure of states like Mississippi to address the increased financial and infrastructure needs of parents and families robbed of their reproductive autonomy.
